Halloweened Out and No Halloween?

This was my first year without a Halloween. Admittedly, I've never done much about the holiday except to throw on a costume, but still - it was missed. So, instead of actual celebrating all Hallow's Eve, I taught about it. Twenty-four times to be exact. And if you're wondering, that's over 800 children who now know how to make a Jack O'Lantern, why black cats are scary and how the word mummy is just slightly different than the woman who birthed you. Now I am home and looking forward to a relaxing November weekend. It's November! When did that happen?

Exactly 8 months ago today we were boarding a plane, all teary-eyed and filled with anticipation. Now, with just 4 months to go, we are looking ahead to what our lives will look like when we return to our home and native land. Any suggestions? I jest. We do have some ideas. They just aren't quite developed enough to talk about! But so far my list includes three things; a dryer, a car and a bathtub.

A few of you have been asking about Cate's physio appointments. They are going okay. Recently the PT told us that she is really improving; her confidence is increasing and she is actually interested in walking, so she's been practicing a lot more. He reassured us that they truly believe nothing is really wrong and that she will get there in time. Since then, however, we've had some difficult appointments in which Cate absolutely refuses to cooperate. Sometimes we just want to pull her out completely, but we also know that these appointments are only to make her stronger, so we're trying to have patience.

Here is a new picture of the sweet pea we call Cate Rowan. Regrettably, we have no costumes to display-but I'm sure you'll appreciate her loveliness even without.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an Office date with my husband.

This week my gorgeous husband will celebrate his birthday. If you think of it, leave him a note!

  1. Such a beautiful girl! Does David have a shotgun? He will need it. Maybe that's a good birthday gift idea:-)

  4. Don't worry I've got it all planned out for you, just ask Kristin...you can buy the townhouse right across from us that's for sale, and then Aria and Cate can be BFFs. Sound good?

  5. Hi Carmen,
How neat to link to your blog, to find your world. Thanks for your comment on my blog and for inviting me to glimpse into your life.
I read a few posts - I'll have to catch up when it's not so late, but you have an adorable little girl! Hospitals are no fun, nor are meds or IV's, MRI's, etc. Worrying about development is also nerve wracking...physio, muscle tone...I know all about such things.
Hopefully everything gets figured out and you can rest in the knowledge that you are doing all that you can - the rest is in the hands of One far more proficient than we.
    Take care, Carmen.
