The Year That Was
Hi friends. I was reading Alison's blog this morning and she had this great little questionnaire on the year that was. So I took it. And here it is.
What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
I gave birth.and everything that goes with that-breastfed, stayed up for an entire night with a newborn, became enthralled with an itty bitty person.
I also graduated from University.
Did you keep new year's resolutions and will you make more next year?
I am not much for resolutions. When I was a teenager it was all I did, but now I try to live better daily instead of setting large goals.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. A few in fact. Christine had Elijah, Colette had Draedon, Judi had Caleb. Jenna had Haylie. I'm sure there's more...myself of course.
Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. My grandpa died. I have no more grandparents.
What countries did you visit?
Hmm. I wish I could say England here. but unfortunately, all I can say is the United States. Bah.
What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
stability.
What dates from 2006 will remain etched in your memory and why?
Cate's birthday-March 30, April 14- the day I was supposed to finish my practicum. April 24th-the day Cate was supposed to be born. June 2- my graduation. August 9-my third wedding anniversary. October 1- the day we were supposed to leave for England.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
well that goes without saying. Bringing Cate Rowan into this world. being a mother.
What were your biggest failures this year?
Not getting to finish my practicum-but I did have a baby in exchange for that, so Im not sure if you can call it a failure-a disappointment?
Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, thankfully I had nothing at all. Unless you count a few stitches from a baby. :)
What was the best thing you bought?
A Car. That we no longer have. Thanks again immigration officers. And a great Maclaren stroller for Cate. We love that thing. And Sensual Ylang Ylang body wash from the Body Shop. mmm.
whose behavior merited celebration?
My husband. He is a truly wonderful father.
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Britney Spears.
What did you spend most of your spare cash on?
Diapers. and clothes for the baby love.
What did you get really, really excited about? um, at the risk of this sounding exactly like Alison- having a baby! Being done school, that was great too.
What song will always remind you of 2006?
Gnarles Barkley-Crazy
Compared to this time last year are you happier or sadder?
Happier by far. but a bit more stressed.
Thinner or fatter? Thank goodness I am thinner.
Richer or poorer? definitley not richer.
What do you wish you'd done more of? exercised. man, I've got to get better at that.
What do you wish you'd done less of?

How many one-night-stands? uhhh. no.
What was your favorite TV programme? The Office
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? no reason to hate anyone.
What was the last book you read? ohhh, i do not remember the name. it was a book about a polish woman in ww2. a memoir. very inspiring and yet very dark.
What was your greatest musical discovery? Alison, you won't believe it, but I only discovered Feist this year too! and I love, love her. And just recently Sufjan Stevens.
Greatest concert of 2006? oh, this is sad, but I did not go to any.
What did you want and get? new shoes. coconut perfume.
What did you want and not get? mmm. nothing that I can think of. except plane tickets to London.
What was your favourite film this year? Little Miss Sunshine. And the Departed. I know that is a surprising choice for a girl like me. but that was a good movie.
What did you do on your birthday and how old are you? Went out for coffee and browsed old book stores. went out for dinner. hung out with my baby and husband. it was nice. I am 24.
What one thing would've made your year immeasurably more satisfying? do i need to say leaving for England?
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006? maternity. then trying to get out of maternity. hah. now I'm back. and i'm loving the long shirts. and boots. I guess I haven't really described a concept. oh well.
