Relief
Well, the results are in! Cate is going to be just fine! We went to our appointment on Monday with the specialist, and he said the tests ruled out any serious developmental disorders or diseases. Thank God! He said she does have low muscle tone but will probably catch up within the next few months. He did recommend physical therapy to increase her confidence and her strength.
We've gone 2x so far and they are getting better and better. Unfortunately, I can't go to the appointments because I have to work ,but David is taking Cate on a 40 minute bus ride to the hospital twice a week. My husband is incredible.
The physical therapists believe that she has developed some bad habits because of her fears of walking. They are going to work on correcting these and on motivating her to want to walk. They also believe she has hypersensitivity in her feet, which means she doesn't like to have her feet on a flat surface such as when she is standing. I've never heard of this before, but it does make sense because often Cate will lift her feet up in the air when we try to practice walking with her.
In better late than never news, I'm an auntie again! My brother Corey and his wife Bonnie welcomed their third child, Brienna Faith Mary last week! Congratulations! If only we could make a trip home to meet her.
Tomorrow we are heading to Seoul to meet David's parents! They are coming for a visit and we cannot wait to see them. They will be here for ~2 weeks. We feel so fortunate that our parents have both made such an effort to come and spend time with us here. It means so much to us. It'll be wonderful for Cate to have her grandparents here! Be sure to check back for picture updates soon.
Thanks to everyone who has been praying for Cate. It's such a great feeling to know that she is going to be o.k.
I've got a lot to get done before tomorrow, so I best run.
Take care out there.
xoxo
Great news indeed! The prayers of many have been answered even though there is still some work to be done. The photo of our dear Cate is cute as ever and having a chance to host your parents David, will be so exciting. I know how much we enjoyed spending time with you back in June.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing you posted something Carmen as I was about to give you a not so gentle nudge to post something!

ReplyDeleteJust de-lurking to say that I have enjoyed reading your blog about life in the ROK. I'm so glad to read such good news for your family! It must have been so hard to try to navigate a foreign health system as well as be so worried. Wishing you and your family the best!
