As you can see, our little babe is almost here! With just 7 weeks to our due date, I am ready to get in full baby mode! So far we really haven't done anything, mostly because we know that we have most things we need for little girls :) We plan to set aside a day to buy her some special things of her own, set up the car seat, cradle, etc. and then we'll be ready to go! At least as far as that area goes. I am starting to feel a wee bit anxious about labor and delivery, because this time I am not oblivious and unfortunately I know exactly how painful it is. yikes! If you remember, Cate was almost 4 weeks early and I didn't even get to read or prepare for my labor with her ( and I feel sooo much better when I can study information and ready myself mentally.)
The pic above was taken just a few days ago at 32.5 weeks. There is a lot of baby on my body!
Cate is totally thrilled about the baby coming. She is incredibly sweet and hugs and kisses my belly all the time and talks to the baby with a high little voice. We just spent time with my sister's daughter, who is 4.5 months, and Cate was absolutely enthralled with her. She wanted to help constantly and she was the first thing Cate wanted to talk about in the morning. She was very gentle and covered her in kisses and hugs. I honestly don't have any fears about her loving her baby sister.
I will honestly try to update a couple more times before baby comes, but in the mean time, I have a question for anyone who has two or more children: ( or anyone who has something to say!)
What practical tips can you give me about the transition from one to two?
For example: What's the easiest way to transport more than one child? (slings, double stroller, etc.)
What did you do to make your first child feel important when baby arrived?
But any other suggestions about anything would be great!

Hi Friend! It's been way too long. We will be home in a week and have lots of catching up to do, make up for lost time. I promise to come help you with 2 little girls at home. Aria and Cate can play play play and we can sit sit sit with new baby!
ReplyDeleteCarmen you are looking FAB! time is flying isn't it?! i have no idea about the 2 kid tips, but i will be keeping posted to see what anyone else can recommend ; )
ReplyDeleteCarmen you look great!
ReplyDeleteYou are beating me to the "two kids thing" so don't have much advice. Also, my girl is much older than yours so will be transporting her little butt on her own two feet :)
One thing we are doing is revamping Brooklyn's room (new paint, furniture, etc) to make her feel like babe is not the only with a new, exciting room.
Can't wait to see pics of your new little princess! Take care!
Wow, I can't believe it's almost that time! Why does it seem to go by so quickly for other people and just drag on and on when it's me?!
ReplyDeleteAs for transporting two kids, a sling or cuddly wrap is fantastic, especially when the baby is still little and sleeps all the time.It keeps your hands free to help the older one, even just with things around the house, yet baby is comfy and taken care of as well, not neglected at all! I've also found a basic little umbrella stroller to be handy as you can take it almost anywhere, and they are small enough to maneuver with one hand while holding the hand of your other child, or even carrying them. As for other tips: you do need your rest too, but also make sure that when the baby is sleeping, you do make an effort to spend one-on-one time with Cate, as she'll really miss that. You can also keep her involved by asking her to get things for you or hold things for you to "help" you. Addison is getting really good at talking to Jaden now when he's crying, or sometimes I even get him to push Jaden around in the house in the little stroller just to keep them both occupied, and Addison feels so important!
I wish you all the best, and I know that you will do a fantastic job when the time comes. You learn as you go, and you'll do great!!!
i used a moby wrap with jackson a lot when we went out. now that they are both bigger (well they almost weigh the same!) we still use our single stroller. just got to be creative. sometimes we lay the back down and j sits at the back and h up front. or h sits up by the handles (kinda like a shopping cart). it works well when Hannah is tired of walking. we also still put J in a Mei Tai sometimes. (if you need one, i'm almost ready to sell!)
ReplyDeletewhen we moved hannah to her own romm we also re-did it. she helped me paint and stuff. she's very proud of it. and i got her to help me organize diapers and clothes to get ready. and i taught her how to help wrap the baby up. anything to make her feel like a big helper.
